EVANGELISM It is fairly simple to know what our FRC mission statement says. "To Know Christ and to make Him known." I can recite those eight words at the drop of a hat. However, it's not so easy to do what they say. Specifically, what does it mean to "make Him known"? What that means in its' simplest form is for us to represent Jesus Christ in all that we do and everywhere we go. More specifically, it also means we need to be willing to speak about Him when we have the chance. 1 Peter 3:15 says, "Be prepared to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you are living the way you are" (The Message). For some of us, that's asking a lot. That's why, on April 4th, several of our veterans from Evangelism Explosion helped in hosting a session of Share Your Faith (SYF). SYF is a tool for believers to learn a simple method to confidently share the Gospel message. You no longer need to be seminary trained or have to study for 13 (although that may be good). SYF will teach you the 5 key principles used as you learn the Hand Presentation of the Gospel. We had 37 in attendance on our first evening. Bob Andre presented a compelling message about the need for each of us to be ready to share. He told us the story of the Titanic and how many lifeboats left the scene half empty and allowed struggling people to drown rather than to "risk" going back for them. The analogy challenged us all. It was exciting to see both teenagers and adults come together to learn. We had new members as well as "seasoned" members. It was especially exciting to see that each of our sights were represented as we had members from Faith Connections West, The Clarion and The Gathering. If you were unable to make this session please keep and eye on the newsletter or the website for upcoming dates, or call Randy Burgess @ 947-7082 ext. 39. Learn how you can help "make Him known".
