In comparison to mission, vision is more focused and detailed. God's vision for a church will be unique to her, because no other church on earth is exactly like her in terms of gifts, abilities, experiences, opportunities, desires, and human attributes. God customizes vision to fit each church. Vision is discerned through an information gathering and analytical process.
Vision should be strategic, inspiring, exciting, and challenging. Seeing vision come to life is never simple or easy, and some in our midst will respond: "Naw, that can't be what God intends for us. Its so, so big! It requires too much change and sacrifice."
God's vision for a church will stretch her in every dimension: intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and financially.
Vision Statement: The body of Christ at Faith Reformed Church will love people where they are, using all means to introduce pre-Christians to God's transforming love. Together, we will intentionally and patiently guide one another as we continue in the process of becoming Faithful Followers of Jesus Christ.
We covenant to work together with the Spirit of God to remove any and all barriers (e.g. cultural, social, economic, physical, or other (e.g. worship style, music, attire, parking, room size, room availability, facilities, finances, or staffing) that may hinder spiritual and numerical growth, and to create the capacity to receive the ripened harvest.
The Visionpath that we will follow to fulfill our Vision is:
Our mission is “To know Christ and to make Him known.” One of the strategies used to achieve that goal will be to increase the number of worship evangelism opportunities through multi-site worship and other creative worship opportunities.
In addition, we will establish an increasing number of community partnerships; performing good deeds, to engender good will, to earn the right to share the Good News.
We will continue to equip congregants, through a variety of methodologies, to share their faith with men, women, teens, and children in their circles of relationships (This will be done via fulfillment of our BHAG described below). We will also continue to address “felt needs” in the community as a means to facilitate relationships for sharing our faith.
We will encourage every congregant to have a ministry (i.e. an “in house” service) and a mission (i.e. involvement in the community).
We will pursue spiritual formation by practicing the Seven Responses of a Faithful Follower of Jesus Christ. Spiritual formation will permeate the life of our congregation deemphasizing a programmatic, classroom approach to discipleship.
(Adopted by Consistory June 2006).
In the spirit of Jim Collins' book From Good to Great, Faith Reformed Church, in August of 2006, adopted a BHAG (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal). Our BHAG states:
Faith Reformed Church will be the most successful church in the country at inspiring, equipping, and deploying faithful followers of Jesus Christ to passionately share the Good News of Jesus Chrst with pre-Christians."
To do this, we need every man, woman, teenager, and child who calls Faith Church "home" to do his or her part. Can we count on you?
