Operation Christmas Child www.samaritanspurse.org/ is a ministry designed to share the love of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ to a child of a third world country through the giving of a shoebox filled with prayers, a love note from and picture of the giver, a few toys, school supplies, hygiene items, a small amount of candy... as God directs. A team of people works to make this annual outreach effort possible by:
- Collecting empty shoeboxes
- Contacting local stores for donations of times for gifts
- Marketing of this opportunity to give to a child to the congregation
- Cutting out labels for the shoeboxes
- Collecting, loading, and transporting the filled shoeboxes to the local collection site
- Working at the local or regional collection/distribution site(s)
- Praying for each shoebox and the child who will receive it.
The team shifts into "high" gear during mid to late-September and usually concludes by late-November. If this is a ministry that you would like to be a part of, please contact Janice Curtiss at 231-938-0988.
